So this all started with two $5 notebooks – one orange and one blue – from Powells (the most amazing place ever!) and a dear friend leaving to go abroad to Sweden while I stayed in boring Salem. Through these notebooks we shared our observations, experiences, and ponderings over five months. I must say it was well worth the fortune to send those tiny notebooks back and forth across the world.

Then she came back! I could not have had a more amazing semester.

Now, sadly, it is my turn to leave… for Michigan…and because we realized that what we were doing was such a great idea, we shall keep it alive. Although now, maybe save a fortune in postage. (Trading in the sheer joy in receiving that package in our mailboxes.) I shall miss blue dearly. It will not be the same not getting to talk to her in person…but hopefully in continuing to share our lives with each other and possibly the world (if you are interested) through this blog, the gap will not be so large.
